Operation Simulation Associates, Inc.OSA is incorporated in Georgia and headquartered in Ringgold, GA. OSA was founded in 1983. OSA provides software and services for the electric power industry with clients in the USA and worldwide. OSA is the developer of the PowrSym family of electric power system generation, transmission, and fuel supply models. The PowrSym4 Model is a unified generation system, hydro system, renewable resources, electric grid, and natural gas grid simulation that optimally dispatches resources to meet the electric loads, natural gas demands, and heat supply demands on an hourly basis for study periods ranging from weeks to several years. PowrSym is a risk based model with the ability to treat uncertainty on all input data and produce risk curves in addition to expected values.
Current development in progress to add AI driven input and output reporting
which will enhance the ability to conduct studies. Current project is an adequacy study for the Tennessee Valley Region for the upcoming winter. Preliminary results indicate there is a 30% chance of TVA not fully meeting the load during January. See the July report here: Winter 2026 Power Outlook for Tennessee Valley.pdf The study will be updated periodically as we approach the winter season and predictions of loads and generating unit availability improve. Study Schedule:
The PowrSym database for TVA can be extended for multi-year studies. Most power system planning models compare alternatives based on net present value results. PowrSym carries the results through to electric rates allowing the interaction of consumer alternatives and rate levels. Should government choose to evaluate different structure alternatives for TVA, PowrSym will be useful to compare consumer electric rates for the alternatives.
